On June 5, the U-24 Japan national team played against the U-24 Ghana national team in an international friendly match.

Japan has been strengthening its squad for the Tokyo Olympics, which are scheduled to start in July, under the leadership of coach Koichi Moriho. Akihiro Yokouchi has been at the helm for the preparation period leading up to the tournament, and in the final survival activity this June, the team was finally called up, including three OA players.

It was a tough schedule, with one day in the middle of the day and a trip from Hokkaido, where the hastily arranged match with the A team was held on the 3rd, to Fukuoka, but coach Yokouchi said at the press conference the day before, “The staff requested to play against an African team. As for the condition of the OA players, he explained that they were all in perfect condition, saying, “There are no serious injuries.

The starting line-up included Hiroki Sakai, Maya Yoshida, and Wataru Endo, with Kenyou Tomiyasu and Ritsu Doan, who have continued to play for the national team, and Kenei Kubo, who will be playing his first game as a 20-year-old. The starting line-up was a 4-2-3-1, with Koyo Ueda, one of the most consistent performers of his generation, playing up top.

At the start of the game, Japan started calmly, moving the ball backwards. Although their feeds to the front line did not lead to shots, they took the initiative and tried to break the game down.

In the 5th minute, Ueda pressed deep on the left side of the field and took the ball. Kubo received the rebound on the left side of the box and his shot was caught by goalkeeper William Emmanuel Ess, but Japan’s intensity was higher than ever.

In the 16th minute, Kubo responded to a through pass, slipped into the right side of the box, and shot with his left foot, which was played in by goalkeeper Ess, and Doan met the floating ball inside the box with a left-footed volley to take the lead.

After the first goal, Japan did not allow Ghana to counterattack. In the 25th minute, Kubo hit the bar with a right-footed shot from the right side of the box. In the 25th minute, Kubo took a right-footed shot from the right side of the box that hit the bar, and after picking up the ball, Aoki Tanaka fired a powerful midfielder from a distance on the left side of the box, but it went wide.

In the 32nd minute, Ueda collected the ball well on the right side of the box and turned it back to the center of the field. Kubo trapped the ball and fired a powerful shot into the net to give Japan a two-goal lead.

Ghana tried to kick high balls to get closer to the goal, but Japan’s defense line kept their balance. Toward the end of the first half, Sakai slipped into the right side of the box and turned it back into the center of the field, causing an own goal. The game went into the break with Japan dominating the game with a three-goal lead.

In the 48th minute, Yoshida sent a vertical pass from the defensive line to Doan, who received it while moving in front of him. In the 56th minute, Kubo pushed forward to the left flank and Yuta Nakayama, who had overlapped via Soma, supplied a cross that Ueda headed in for his fifth goal. All the players who started in the second row and above got results.

Japan made a change soon after. Kaoru Sanogi and Hiroshi Itakura replaced Soma and Tomiyasu. Ghana, on the other hand, also made several substitutions in an attempt to catch up.

Japan slowed down a bit, but they did not give Ghana any chances. With the game almost decided, Japan brought on Dainen Maeda and Ryotaro Shokuno in the 67th minute instead of Ueda and Doan.

In the 75th minute, Japan was in trouble for the first time in the match. Ghana’s counter attack was triggered by Japan’s inability to shoot while attacking into the box. Othman Bukari used his speed to get to the left side of the box and shoot. However, the goalkeeper Akio Tani had the better of the one-on-one.

Japan used their fifth substitution card in the 79th minute to bring on Reo Hatate in place of Kubo. Taiyo Koga replaced Nakayama in the 85th minute, using up all six substitution slots.

Towards the end of the game, Japan did not manage to get a shot off, but towards the end of the game, Sanogi got the ball in the box and scored with his right foot after crossing one of the Ghanaian defenders.
